Your Favorite Self is a community in which together we figure out how to move away from trying to be our best selves and discover how to be(come) our favorite selves instead. 💛

Hi, I’m Shirley and I’m so glad you’re here!

I’m a cat mom at heart, but in love with a very allergic human, weekly shooting her shot at some ballroom-dancing, dreaming about starring in Step Up 48, but in reality, dancing like a grandma in a 30-something body - and loving every minute of it. 💃🏻

Also, you name it, I dance(d) with it. Chronic pain, illnesses, medical trauma, depression, childhood trauma, C-PTSD, an eating disorder, and the list goes on …

This all propelled me into becoming a self-help junkie and it took me at least 10 years of looking outside of myself for THE answer, the fix, to start looking inward.

Practicing self-compassion for many years now, and helping others do so as well, has recently landed me in this beautiful space on Substack, wanting to share even more of the tiny shifts that can have a big impact on your self-connection and self-empowerment.

THE self-compassion anthem (if you ask me):

Here on Substack I am also doing a dance, one of offering you a mix of tips, teachings, insights and musings on be(com)ing your favorite self.

A great post to start with if you want to learn a little more about me & my approach:

Why Substack? And how does it work?

I’ve moved my blog and newsletter (which on Substack is one and the same – every new post gets delivered straight to your inbox) to Substack, because I was longing for a sense of community and real heart-to-heart conversations.

Every fortnight a new post will go out to you, and of course you can check out the archive if you’d like to read some more. I look forward to seeing you in the comment section!
